My name is Ben Castle. I am a mathematician studying model theory, a branch of mathematical logic. I am most interested in interactions between model theory, geometry, and combinatorics — particularly those involving the so-called `Zilber trichotomy’.

I am currently an assistant professor of mathematics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Previously, I was a postdoc at the University of Maryland (Spring 2024), Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Fall 2022-Fall 2023), Notre Dame University (Spring 2022), and the Fields Institute (Fall 2021). I got my PhD from UC Berkeley in 2021 under the supervision of Tom Scanlon.
